CRUMB THROPHY

We were more than a little excited to be blessed with a new track from Brooklyn's Crumb earlier today. Having well and truly won us over with their 2017 EP Locket and their subsequent debut LP Jinx in 2019, 'Trophy' continues down the surrealist trajectory set out by the band from the offset. Opening to the nostalgic crackling of tape, eerie synthesizers hang, suspended in space, before groove-lead bass lines and precise acoustic beats punctuate Lila Ramani's transportive vocals. Sticking to their established trippy aesthetic, the expectedly excellent video for 'Trophy' is another mesmerising clip directed by Crumb's continual collaborator Haoyan of America; this time featuring charming animations by Truba Animation. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed for another full length from Crumb, but for now, 'Trophy' is a satisfying second prize. -Holly Mullineaux
